Andy Bell played a DJ set alongside DJ Jeffo at Wierd in New York City on November 4th at a night billed as 'Dark Wave, New Wave and A Little Respect'.

Andy Bell will be DJing at Wierd in New York City tomorrow night (November 4th) in a night billed as 'Dark Wave, New Wave and A Little Respect'.

Wierd will take place at Home Sweet Home, 31 Chrystie Street (just below Delancey Street). Doors open at 10pm, $5 admission before 1am.

Andy has done a short interview for the ElectroQueer website about the new edition of The Innocents. The chat also touches on The Cheeky Girls, Andy's status as a Gay Icon, Frankmusic and the True Colors tour.

Andy played a four-hour DJ set at Le Poisson Rouge in NYC on Saturday. Spinning all sorts from Madonna to Human League to Lady Gaga, and even a mix of Erasure's own 'Fly Away', Andy kept the packed house moving all night.

Vince and Andy met up in New York City this week to start work on the new Erasure album. Writing started yesterday and here's a picture of them back together again! The new album is tentatively scheduled for release towards the end of next year and the band will be keeping us in the loop on their progress, so keep checking back for updates as we get them!

While he's in NYC Andy will be playing a DJ set at the Gallery Bar at Le Poisson Rouge (158 Bleeker Street) this Saturday (October 10th). It's $10 in advance or $20 on the door and doors open at 9pm.

Andy has been interviewed about his travel experiences for the Passport Magazine website. It's very loosely an interview about 'Total Pop!' which gets a brief mention, but it mostly about Andy's travel experiences and includes a number of his top travel tips!

Andy was recently interviewed by The Bay Area Reporter for a 'Total Pop!' feature which is online now. The interview revolves around the release of 'Total Pop!' and takes a broad look at Erasure's history and includes a look at the way Vince and Andy work together, the band's various fashion statements (!), touring and television appearances and is well worth a read!

Part two of Andy's recent interview with AOL's Spinner.com is online now and talks about Madonna's influence on Andy and his friendship with Debbie Harry.

Andy Bell talks about the idea of an Erasure musical at AOL's Spinner.com which also includes a twelve-picture photo gallery of pictures taken at Andy's recent White Party appearance, which includes more pictures with Lady GaGa, Andy on the decks and shots from his signing session at the event.

There's a treat for Italian-speaking fans in the current issue of Andergr@und Magazine (Number 32) which features a four-page interview with Andy Bell. The magazine is currently available to browse and read online (just click on the magazine cover on the homepage to load it, the interview with Andy is on page 20). The interview is loosely about the release of 'Total Pop!' but covers all sorts of subjects from Andy's solo work to his musical influences to his ideal collaborations. The previous two issues of Andergr@und also feature reviews of 'Total Pop!' and 'Pop! Remixed'. Ciao!

Andy talked to Chicago's Windy City Times about the release of 'Total Pop!' in a short INTERVIEW (PDF) that also touches on what's currently on Andy's iPod, his forthcoming solo material and his DJ appearances. Another INTERVIEW (PDF) appeared in Frontiers and talks about Andy's White Party DJ set, his current favourite tracks to DJ with and more about his solo album!

Andy Bell was in the US recently, promoting the release of 'Total Pop!' with a DJ slot at Jeffrey Sanker's White Party where he did a video interview with Pepper Mashay for the Pride Nation website which you can see here (the interview is in the site's video player, just scroll down to the clip 'Pepper Mashay interviews Andy Bell').

Andy was also mentioned in loads of White Party coverage, including small mentions in ACCESS HOLLYWOOD, NBC NEW YORK, GAY WIRED, GAY PARTY BLOG, SAN DIEGO EXAMINER, and the WASHINGTON DC EXAMINER.

Last week Andy played a 60-minute DJ set at the White Party in Palm Springs, California and spent some time with Lady GaGa, who was also on the bill (if you look closely at the pictures you can see she's clutching a copy of 'Total Pop!' autographed for her by Andy!). Andy Bell has contributed to the second show in 'Queens of British Pop', a new two-part BBC1 documentary which features Alison Moyet. The show, which also includes contributions from Robert Marlow, was broadcast on BBC1 on April 8th and will be available on the BBC iPlayer for a further week.

On Saturday 11th April at the Wyndham Hotel (Palm Springs, California) Andy Bell will be spinning his favorite songs as guest DJ for Jeffrey Sanker's White Party, now celebrating 20 years. He will DJ from 3 to 4pm, spinning classic Erasure songs plus the hottest electro artists and mixes from yesterday and today.

The Erasure 'Total Pop! Deluxe Box' 4 disc box set (3CD & 1DVD) is released by Rhino Records in North America on the 7th April, and will be available at all retail outlets, including rhino.com. The box set will also be available for purchase at the FYE booth inside the Wyndham Hotel in Palm Springs during White Party weekend. Andy Bell will make a special appearance at the booth directly after his DJ set to greet fans.

Andy has been flashing his skills at turntables around the world since his sold-out DJ tour to support his solo album, Electric Blue in 2005. Andy is currently recording his second solo album for release later this year.

On the 9th April (two days before his White Party set) Andy Bell will DJ a special in-store event at Amoeba Music in Hollywood, CA.

Rhino shows 'a little respect' to the group with a four-disc boxed set (3CD/DVD) that includes all of the band's singles (remastered in 2009) on two discs, a career-spanning collection of live performances on a third CD and a DVD of the group's best BBC appearances.

Total Pop! - Deluxe Box will be available April 7 from Rhino Records at all retail outlets, including www.rhino.com, for a suggested list price of $54.98.

On the same day, April 7, Rhino will also release Pop! Remixed as a digital only exclusive. Pop! Remixed features remixes from Vince Clarke, Mark Picchiotti, Manhattan Clique, Komputer, Sweden's Sound Factory and a mix of "Drama!" by Andy Bell and JC.

The first disc contains a newly remastered version of Pop! ø The First 20 Hits, Erasure's 1992 singles compilation and the group's fourth consecutive #1 album in the U.K. Arranged chronologically, the disc encompasses all of the group's singles, from its 1986 debut Wonderland to the 1992 EP, Abba-esque. Among the many highlights are Top 20 U.S. hits "Chains Of Love" and "A Little Respect;" the #1 Dance smash "Victim Of Love;" fan favorites "Oh L'Amour" and "Chorus," plus a remix of the band's first single, "Who Needs Love (Like That)."

The second disc picks up where the first left off, offering 19 singles released from 1994 to 2007, the year of the band's most recent studio album, Light At The End Of The World. It opens with the Top 20 U.S. hit "Always," closing with Jeremy Wheatley's new mix of the song, made especially for this collection. The disc features such standouts as "In My Arms," "Breathe" and a stellar cover of Peter Gabriel's "Solsbury Hill," from 2003's Other People's Songs.

For the collection's final CD, the band assembles 15 stunning and rare live performances recorded between 1987 and 2007, including three performances from 1992's Phantasmagorical Tour ("Voulez-Vous," "Am I Right?" and "Heart Of Stone"), "Breathe" from 2006's Acoustic Tour and "Oh L'Amour" from 2007's World Tour.

The DVD contains BBC appearances recorded between 1986 and 2005, including performances from Top Of The Pops, Daytime Live and The Tom O'Connor Roadshow. It begins with Erasure's 1986 Top Of The Pops debut "Sometimes," followed by "Ship Of Fools" on Wogan and a six-song performance from 2003's Top of the Pops 2 Special that features a cover of "You've Lost That Loving Feeling."
